About Us.

We're a creative agency that helps more people
do more good
.

Goodera was founded in 2020 to support purpose-driven brands, small businesses, and entrepreneurs. By elevating these brands, amplifying their missions, and expanding their reach, our goal is to help more people do more good.

What do we mean by purpose-driven? We support those who put idealism into action by using business as a force for good. Whether that's to benefit people or the planet, the small businesses we partner with exist to solve a problem, and have a greater mission baked into the core of what they do. We believe we can make a much larger impact on the world and our communities simply by supporting those who are working towards more than just a bottom line.

As part of our commitment to making a positive impact through everything we do, we donate 10% of every invoice back to a community or organization of each client's choice.

Meet Our Founder.

Kim Merritt

Hi I'm Kim, Founder and Creative Director of Goodera. I'm also a passionate truth-speaker, strong supporter of not being an asshole, and a hobby photographer who'd almost always rather be in the mountains.

Born and raised in Ohio, my Midwestern values were installed by default. I spent my 20s developing my edge in New York City, half of my 30s in California finally learning how to enjoy a life beyond work, and a handful of years learning how the world works from the perspectives of 30+ countries.

With a BFA in Advertising from the School of Visual Arts, I've spent 15+ years working at agencies in New York, London, and Los Angeles. I've written for some of the world's most recognizable brands and celebrities, while learning from some truly brilliant Creatives. My words and ideas have helped win 10 awards, appeared across everything from TV, radio, print, and out-of-home, to all things digital and social media.

Despite my success, I'd spent nearly a decade in an unrelenting cycle of ad-industry burnout, when a single client interaction in the summer of 2020 led me to an almost too-simple realization:

I like what I do, I just don't like who I do it for.

Rather than give up on the industry all together, I decided to pivot. To use my skills and everything I know from advertising for some of the world's biggest brands, to instead support those who are making a positive impact in their communities and the world. To focus all of that attention and time on something that actually matters. I started Goodera that day.

Now I'm on a mission to bring my 15+ years of knowledge and expertise to purpose-driven brands and small businesses at all stages—and to celebrate those who are making a difference along the way. I know that as individuals we can only do so much, but together we can accomplish so much more. I believe my impact will be much greater by supporting other like-minded entrepreneurs and small business owners who are each dedicated to furthering their own mission.

Basically if you're in the business of doing good, I want to support you, however I can.

Our Values.

Creative Freedom.

We know that part of creative thinking is having the time and energy to do so. And that when it comes to creative talent, the advertising industry is notorious for burnout. We're on a mission to change that.

We believe in letting our people stay in control of their own schedules and lives, which is why we work with and support independent creatives and freelancers.

We assemble teams based on each project's specific needs, and will work to match freelancers with projects they can feel good about. That means clients only pay for the support they need, and our talent gets to choose what they work on—it's a win-win.

People First.

We're careful not to exploit our freelancers or make them feel like just another interchangeable name in our rolodex. As we grow, our goal is always to build partnerships that focus on avoiding burnout, facilitate growth, and create an environment where independent creatives feel empowered to be their best selves. Whether that's by offering healthcare/self-care stipends, or financial support for skill development, we want our people to grow with us.

100% Remote.

As a freelancer for Goodera you have the freedom to work on what you want, when you want, from where you want. You stay in control of your schedule and which projects you take on. And rest assured, we don’t care where you live—you’re paid for your talent, not your mailing address.

Community Focused.

We believe in the power of community and collaboration, and coming together to help one another with our strengths. That's why our community extends beyond a single geographical location, and instead focuses on connecting purpose-driven individuals.

We don't just provide services for clients, we also provide inspiration and ideas by shining the spotlight on those who are making an impact. We're not just a creative agency, we're building a community of like-minded, socially-motivated individuals.

About The Bird.

We're often asked "what's up with the bird?" Our logo was designed to showcase how anything is possible with a little bit of creative thinking.

Even though the kiwi is a flightless bird, with some creative problem solving it's able to rise  to new heights.

That's our approach to each new challenge we face—we utilize creative problem solving to help our clients rise up. Plus you know what they say; birds of a feather flock together.
